Fined 5 million lek by the police, 17-year-old speaks out: My mother has passed

A 17-year-old, fined 5 million lek after Saturday's protest, has confessed to the economic difficulties his family faces, stating that he cannot afford to pay the administrative measure.

In a statement to News24 from today's protest, the young man said that the family lives on economic assistance and the KEMP disability pension, while emphasizing that he has been without his mother for years.

He claims that at the time of the protest he was playing and was not part of the rally.

According to him, he has not even notified his father about the fine, as he cannot afford to pay the 5,000 euros within 10 days.

The 17-year-old said that the difficult economic situation will not stop him from demanding what he considers his rights, warning that he will continue to participate in protests until Prime Minister Edi Rama resigns.

Protester: I was playing, I was not part of the protest. I did not notify my father, because I cannot pay 5 thousand euros in 10 days. My mother died, she passed away many years ago. I have family members with me, who receive a total of 240 thousand lek.

It doesn't work out for us at all. I worked in a furniture store, I got 360 thousand lek, it doesn't work out for anything. I stood up for my rights and the rights of Albania. The state doesn't give me anything for my mother's death, I only get a scholarship at school.

I have nowhere to find the money. I will participate in the protest until Rama resigns. Nothing scares me.
