Switzerland debuted with victory in the World Cup in Qatar, as they defeated Cameroon by a minimum of 1-0, a valuable match for Group G.

The first half ended with intact nets, where the game was even, with only two dangerous chances for Cameroon.

In the second half of the game, the "Helvetii" took the lead thanks to Brel Embolo's goal in the 49th minute thanks to a super assist by the footballer of Albanian origin, Xherdan Shaqiri, who served quite nicely for the first and only goal of the match. After scoring the goal, the 25-year-old striker did not celebrate as a sign of respect for the country where he was born.

This was the first match of Group G, with Switzerland currently leading the group with 3 points, while the Africans are in last place with 0 points.
