Tomas Strakosha grew up in Greece. In a recent interview for the Greek media "Sport24.gr" he talked about several topics, from the transfer to Italy to Lazio and the National Team.
"I wanted to leave Greece, I was 16 years old. I wanted to play in another league and leaving at a young age helped me to face any difficulties myself.
I love and respect Greece, but I'm from Albania and I think it's more appropriate to play for the Albanian National Team. I could also choose Greece, but my roots are in Albania.
Albania in 2024 can be in the European again. We have a good group, a young generation with a lot of talent. We have many players who play abroad. Poland is the favorite of the group, Albania must definitely be in second place. It will be a shame if we don't go to the European Championship", said Strakosha, among others.
The red and black goalkeeper is not having a good season in England. He has had several injuries that have prevented him from showing his worth with Brentford, where he spent last summer.
He left Serie A after many years in Italy, where he grew up in chain teams, and the goalkeeper of the Albanian National Team remembers that period with nostalgia.
"Besides Lazio, I also had the opportunity to go to Roma, but then we met with goalkeeper coach Adalberto Grigioni and I decided to transfer to Lazio even though Rome's offer was better economically.
Grigioni accompanied me every step of the way and made me believe that I could achieve any goal. I didn't decide based on money but on my dreams. I will never forget the debut against Milan. No, I had time to be worried because I learned it shortly before entering the field.
It was Inzaghi who appreciated me a lot and transferred me up to the first team. It was my dream to play in the Premier League so I turned down many other offers. There are many differences between the English and Italian championships".
