Mourinho and the art of maneuvering: It is never his fault!
Mourinho arguing with the referee Mourinho

The Portuguese coach's record is not in question, as is the elegance in diverting attention from the team's frustrations on the field. A beautiful climate has been created in Rome, but...

This season, Cremonese have won 3 games out of 28 in total and in Serie A only 1, the one against Roma last Tuesday. For Mourinho, it is a very strong blow, but as has been easily noticed, this time too there is talk about something else and little, very little, about the match. The focus is on the coach's fight with the 4th referee.

Mourinho is a great coach, his record shows it. In Rome he has also become a maestro of maneuvering, or perhaps always has been. They were beaten 6-1 by Bodo Glimt, one of the heaviest defeats in the club's history. What happened? Those in charge were 4-5 boys that he himself put on the field. He didn't want to see everyone at home, including Kumbulla.

Suffered to go to the Champions League? The fault of the organization, even though the team has Dybala, Matic, Pellegrini, Abraham, Cristan and Smalling, now Spinazzola and Wijnaldum? When he loses important matches, he fights with the referees. There is always an artifact of defeat and always not that one. This too is an art: to confuse ideas, to shuffle cards, to come out of every situation as a victim and never to be at fault.

The federal prosecution has recently opened an investigation to understand what happened between Mourinho and the 4th referee in the match with Cremonese. Very well, we need clarity about the words that Serra said to the coach. And the opposite, of course. After that scene, the Portuguese was punished with a red card and ended up in the stands.

Mourinho has also brought beautiful things to Rome, he has won the Conference League, using the quality of the players that he had been questioning for months. But above all, it has created a very good atmosphere in the club and with the fans. When Roma play, the 'Olimpico' is always full.

Jose still needs to do something else, for example give an identity or a better game to the team. And not to diminish the value of the players, for whom his employers have spent quite a bit. And if he took responsibility for some serious loss, it wouldn't be bad. But this is probably impossible, because a victim cannot be responsible.../ Gazzetta dello Sport
