After almost 25 years on the bench, Jurgen Klopp has decided to dedicate himself to a new adventure, accepting the role of "Head of Global Football" at Red Bull.
A completely different task from the past, which gives him the opportunity to put his experience at the service of not only a single team, but an entire group at a global level.
"I know there are more important things than football, but the impact it has is huge and I'm proud to be part of it," explained the former Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool coach. "I consider myself a football doctor, wherever I am I give my all, and now I'm going to do that for Red Bull. This role reflects what I've always wanted to do, I'm very excited, but I also feel like I can be very useful."
In a conversation with Maurizio Crosetti for La Repubblica, Klopp was clear: "What if City is punished? If it happens, buy the plane tickets and I'll wait for you at my house in Munich. I'll provide the beer to celebrate and I'll have the parade in the garden."
A unique role in a sports multinational
After leaving Liverpool seven months ago, Klopp no ??longer had any desire to be on the bench, but neither did he want to retire at the age of 57. So he enthusiastically accepted the offer to take on a special role in what has become a multinational in sports. “I have been in this sport for many years and I have never lost my curiosity. This project, which gives me the opportunity to apply all my experience in different teams and structures, is ideal – said the German. – For me, this is the perfect moment to do this job. But that does not mean that I will not return to the bench in the future.”
A global challenge
"Now I will deal with teams from many countries, from Brazil, Japan, to the USA - continued Klopp, who recently made his debut by going to the stadium to watch Paris FC, where Red Bull has a minority stake, and Leipzig. - I will have the opportunity to be useful not only for a club, but for an international group where there is a lot of enthusiasm."
"My role will not be purely consultative. Each team has its own needs and for each we will look for a solution to progress together. My commitment will be focused on strategy - he added. - Even at Dortmund and Liverpool my work has always been very strategic, improving the teams, infrastructures and culture."
"Another challenge will be to find synergies between different sports and bring them together, learning from each other," concluded the former coach. "I will never say that we will win the Bundesliga or the Champions League - concluded Klopp - but we will do our best to improve all the teams. I will also work with the coaches, because I know what they need."
