Little is known about the health of Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher 10 years after his skiing accident and the family is intent on keeping it that way.

The German suffered serious head injuries in the accident in the French Alps on December 29, 2013 and has not been seen in public since.

“The decision to protect his privacy from the public was made in Michael's best interests. It is the right of the family to handle the case in the best way for them", emphasized Schumacher's manager, Sabine Kehm.

When the seven-time F1 world champion was in intensive care in Grenoble 10 years ago, a journalist disguised as a priest tried to get in and another man claimed to be his father.

"There were many unpleasant moments," said Kehm.

The fact that the family managed to contain any leakage from their Swiss home is due to a great deal of work supporting the privacy of his health.
