Democratic deputy Enkelejd Alibeaj has reacted regarding the display of the Albanian flag with the communist star during the "Sunny Hill" festival.
He writes that it is unfortunate that none of the organizers, including the municipality of Tirana and the government, have yet reacted to this unprecedented act.
According to him, the appearance of symbols of communism is not something accidental in a country that has suffered for a long time under the dictatorship installed by the communists.
Today , the media published the display of symbols of communism during the "Sunny Hill" festival in Tirana. It is a pity that none of the organizers, including the municipality of Tirana and the government, have not yet reacted to this unprecedented act. The appearance of symbols of communism is not something accidental in a country that has long suffered under the dictatorship installed by the communists. Time after time nostalgic and not only appear with the symbols of the dictatorship, insulting the memory, suffering and sacrifices of thousands of Albanians.
Therefore, DP has always insisted that decommunization is a process that must be taken seriously and treated with the respect that a nation that has suffered so much and for so long under the communist dictatorship deserves. For this reason, we submitted to the Assembly our draft law that provides for the issue of the symbols of the dictatorship and we will submit it for the lustration. Lustration and decommunization are processes that go together and separated from each other they cannot work. Albanian society needs transparency and seriousness in dealing with an issue that can never be a weapon in the hands of those who use it for the petty reasons of the politics of the day', writes Alibeaj .
The communist flag during the "Sunny Hill" festival is like a satirical form of the group "Nothing like the Dielli" performed 8 years ago by Alban Nimani.
