The government has again touched upon the reform in justice.

Approved by over 84 votes in 2016 and amended on the 21st by the votes of the so-called parliamentary opposition, the law on the status of judges and prosecutors will be put to the vote again.

This time, the reason for the intervention was the opinion of the citizens in the national consultation process, who were asked if judges and prosecutors who have not yet passed the vetting but who had made decisions that were openly contrary to the law should be suspended from office.

And precisely for this category, the Ministry of Justice proposes immediate suspension as soon as the High Inspector of Justice, the institution where they work or the Ministry itself submits a complaint.

The prosecutor's and judicial councils should be convened immediately and not after three days as is currently the case, leaving the opportunity for the offender to present his arguments or continue to deepen the violation.

The practice has shown, it is stated in the accompanying relation of the law, that the councils needed a thorough investigation before imposing the suspension.

The investigation was conducted by the ILD and could last up to a year.

During which time, the prosecutor or judge accused of violation remained in office with the possibility of abuse or disappearance of the documentation.

In order to avoid such phenomena, the law needs to be changed, which is also done with the votes of the opposition.

During the period of suspension, however, magistrates are paid 75% of their salary.
