Safet Gjici, the socialist mayor of Kukes made more famous for memes on social media, than for the work he has done in the municipality he runs has released the next pearl.

In a television interview with Euronews, he initially says That The Mexicans are fleeing, but denies that it is about depopulation.

In the interpretation of Safet Gjic, depopulation does not mean the mass departure of people from a given country, as INSTAT reports that has occurred with Kukes in recent years. The mayor defines depopulation differently.

"Depopulation means that everyone flees and there is no man left. Today there are infinite people in Kukes," Gjici said.

Thus, according to this new definition of Safet Gjic, Kukes cannot be called depopulated even if in all the municipality running remains only Safet Gjici, where he would be both a citizen and a mayor and would be sure to win, even with 100 percent of the vote.

Gjici accused that "depopulation" is the anti-Albanian term used by those who have done nothing in 30 years, while later quoting with its poor vocabulary the relativizing terms of Edi Rama.

"It's depopulation, a term that those who haven't done anything in 30 years use it. Anti-Albanian term they also use politically. It is very heavy, because all countries like us have continued to move freely when they are introduced to the principles of democracy. We've done a lot, but we still have a lot of work to do," he adds.

More than the job of mayor, outside Kukes Safet Gjici has become famous for memes on social media. Video of Gic's visit to a family of elderly Mexicans during the pandemic remains in circulation. After advising them not to go out, and above all not to meet anyone, nor by giving him his hand, Safet Gjici leaves, meeting them by hand and wishing them health.
