Former Deputy Minister of Finance and former Director of Customs, Irena Beqiraj, a day ago criticized and analyzed the statements made by Prime Minister Edi Rama and Minister of Economy Delina Ibrahimaj regarding the depreciation of the euro but also the money coming into our country from tourism. That post was enough for a virtual "quarrel" to break out between two former colleagues and two former friends, Delina Ibrahimaj and Irena Beqiraj.

Ibrahimaj responded to Beqiraj with a lengthy analysis, where beyond the figures and economic arguments, there was no shortage of personal jabs. Ibrahimaj made it clear that the former deputy minister's criticisms did not stem from a cold professional analysis, but from "anger."

"Ah Irena, 8.5 billion is not found by "botany". Arithmetic finds it. Dear Irena, I hope you are in good health, it's been a long time since we last saw each other and I believe you missed me as much as I did, since you had mentioned me by name in the corner of your lightning bolts."

But I don't have a lightning bolt for you, because I have no grudge against anyone. Then it would be superfluous for me to ask you, since like many others you were promoted to high positions by the Prime Minister, why you are so angry that you get angry even with the facts.

So let's focus on the facts, taking advantage of the opportunity given to show how evil, in addition to absurd, the "narco-development" narrative is,  writes Ibrahimaj, among other things,  (POSTIMI).

Irena Beqiraj's response came immediately and this time it was not simply a debate on the economy. The former director of Customs chose to open a completely different chapter, bringing back to mind the period when she was appointed head of Customs and started a conversation with former minister Shkëlqim Cani.

Beqiraj has revealed that before taking office, she was told about two "tests" that, according to her, were passed by those who aimed to climb the political hierarchy, shoulder the burdens of others without asking for reward, and be willing to step on anyone, even friends, for the sake of their career.

But according to her, she had chosen never to pass those "tests", emphasizing that for her, reputation, family, and friends have always been worth more than any position or seat of power.

Further, the former deputy minister rejected the accusation of "anger", saying that she does not harbor resentment towards anyone, but that she feels sorry for her and former colleagues who, according to her, choose to defend political narratives instead of professional arguments.

"Fortunately, I know your pen and those above you. They forced you to write that status and I understand the inability to say no! But I hope that one day you will come out of there, and I will have the colleague and friend that I love so much again," writes the former deputy minister of Rama's cabinet.

Beqiraj's full reaction:

I'm starting with a true and very interesting story.

When the Prime Minister decided to appoint me as Director of Customs on March 7, 2015, I went to Minister Cani and asked him - Why am I the Director and Deputy Minister, when the majority has many names who can do that job?!

He smiled and said to me – You will also become the Minister of Finance even though you do not come from the party. But, before you become a minister, he took you to customs to pass two tests:

1- to accept to put skeletons in the closet, to be used and not to ask for a reward at the end, even

2- be willing to step on anyone, even your friends, and not look back.

Have you noticed, Delia, that all the ministers who did not come from the party have passed Professor Can's tests?

Well, Delin, with full willpower I decided not to pass both tests, my objective was only a good name. I feed my ambition as much as I need, not as much as I can because reputation, family, friends, for me are worth more than any position.

So I have no anger, not with you, not at all, but not for those who attacked me. I feel sorry for you and many other friends and colleagues who speak like Zeqineja.

I read your arguments but I don't know if it's worth answering.

Again, I'm sorry that most economists who read the status below will think wrongly of you, as Bela Balluku did - "You don't understand macroeconomics"!

I don't think so! You learn a lot from macroeconomics. SO if you want to improve your image a bit after this piecemeal status, we can have a public debate about arithmetic, botany, productivity, foreign investments, accounting for retained earnings, pensions, the budget, how the money supply is calculated, etc.….. you choose the screen, the time.

I am fortunate enough to know your pen and those above you. They forced you to write that status and I understand the inability to say no!

But I hope that one day you'll get out of there, and I'll have the colleague and friend I love so much again!
