"You are doing it with our money, don't act like..."/ Rama responds to commentators: There are governments that do good things

Prime Minister Edi Rama delivered his speech during the event for the 'Double Your Enterprise' program.

The Prime Minister stated that this project will enable small and medium-sized enterprises to double in size, and international experts have been engaged to further develop this project.

" I want to start from the synergy created to achieve the shaping of this new product for enterprises. It has been essential that we, on our part, have the cooperation and will of the Bank of Albania and then also of the second-tier banks, who have guaranteed us that they will do their part as they should for the success of this program."

The truth is that banks have entered an extraordinary comfort zone, while others fight to win, banks win without a fight. Which has not made me jealous, but more demanding of banks. The truth is that they are not coming out of this program with a loss, but not with any big profit either. Here they will have a modest profit, but the long-term profit will be considerable, because what we aim to do is to support small and medium-sized enterprises to double.

It is very important that this spirit of cooperation that we have had so far... I want to thank the governor and, in thanking him, I want to say that I would very much like to thank him again in six months. The success of this project also depends on the pressure that the governor will put on the second-tier banks.

Since banks have a whole manual of excuses that they use with great efficiency, and one of these is that the plans of small and medium-sized businesses are not sufficiently achieved, we have engaged another force in this process, which is UNDP, the United Nations Office here in Tirana, where we will engage international experts. We will be a group ready to assist businesses that have interesting ideas and a credible plan, but do not have the capacity to translate it into a convincing project.

This group will be available to businesses and the Ministry of Economy will play its role in coordinating between entities.

We have also made available an online website, which also offers an opportunity for businesses to contact the ministry directly and a chatbox to answer questions about the program.

Another element is that a cycle of meetings in the territory has been planned to encourage businesses to get involved in this program.

The Ministry of Finance has been key. Everyone does their job, but the problem is who does it better and who does it worse. They tell us: “Why are you pretending to do what you are doing, that you are doing it with our money?” There are governments that do good things with our money, there are governments that do nothing, or do bad things.

"I want to thank both the ministers and the governor for this project ," said Prime Minister Rama.
