Lawyer Spartak Ngjela has stated that those who were afraid did not vote for the file law a few days ago in the Assembly.

He said this in an interview for Euronews Albania, where, among other things, he emphasized that when the law does not work, it becomes a reason for dictatorship.

"They are caught by the law of files. Why weren't they in the hall? They should have made the law when they were in power. The law, if it is not included in the object, does not apply.

The file law came, some were opened, some were opened as they were. Those that were not opened become ministers. Why did the president who had them in his hand leave them? They do not know how to correct their mistake. When the law does not work, it becomes a reason for dictatorship" - said Ngjela.

On October 20, the Assembly of Albania approved with 94 votes in favor and 1 abstention several amendments to the law on state security files, where it becomes possible to open all files from 1944 to 1991.

At the same time, according to these amendments, candidates for senior management positions must again pass through the sieve of the Files Authority, despite the fact that they may have previously received a cleanness certificate from the two "Mezini" and "Bezhani" commissions.

The draft law came after the request of the authority, after a file appeared where it was claimed that a person with the initials IM, who is suspected to be the former president Ilir Meta, was an associate of the state security.
