Athens' dissatisfaction with Prime Minister Edi Rama's meeting with the Albanians of Greece has not influenced the head of the Albanian government, who has not changed the agenda.
This Saturday, Rama again reminded his compatriots in Greece that on May 12 he will be in Athens, where he will hold a meeting with Albanians who live and work in the neighboring country, in the framework of the re-energization of the Socialist Party and preparation for the upcoming elections. parliamentary elections of 2025.
"On May 12, we start the spring journey in the diaspora from Athens, "Proud of Albania", where it would be a special pleasure to meet," writes Rama on social networks.
A few days ago, the Greek media announced that Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis is worried about the presence of his Albanian counterpart in Athens on May 12, as it may affect the Albanian vote for the elections of Greek MEPs.
Even, according to them, May 12 is intentional because it coincides with the date of Beler's arrest.
Greek diplomatic sources stated that it would be preferable for Rama's visit to be postponed to another neutral time so that the Albanian side is not involved in the pre-election period in Greece.
However, Prime Minister Rama reconfirms that there is no withdrawal from either the date or the place of the meeting in Greece.
According to the current plan, the head of the Albanian government is not expected to have any meeting with the Greek governors. On May 12, Rama will address an audience of about 5,000 compatriots, who will gather in the Olympic Games Hall in the Galatsi neighborhood.
Athens will be the first stop of Rama's electoral tour, with the Albanian national elections on the horizon, with the motto "Revival of the Diaspora 2030" and the slogan "Proud of Albania". His next stop is Milan on May 26.
In June, Rama visits London and then Munich and the Albanian diaspora in New York.
