The EU ambassador in Albania,  Silvio Gonzato,  has stated that the management of public funds is at the core of the integration process.

Presenting the Strategy for the Management of Public Finances, Gonzato stated that this should be done in a transparent manner and with proper accountability.

"It is an issue that lies at the core of policy-making but also accountability, important elements for the future as it provides the foundation for healthy macro-fiscal policies, it also determines the rules by which works are offered to different fields, different policies or investments" , he expressed.

Silvio Gonzato:  We are in the final stages and this document will provide orientations and proper coordination of reforms for the management of public finances, of course it will be done in a number of institutions.

Coordinating work will be very important and the steering committee provides the best possible platform for just that.

At first I thought "obobo will be a very technical thing", it is technical but it is not technocratic. It is an issue that lies at the core of policy-making but also accountability, important elements for the future as it provides the foundation for healthy macrofiscal policies, it also determines the rules by which works are offered to different fields, different policies or investments. It also determines how these financial resources are obtained through taxes, customs, public debt.

It will show the efficiency of public spending, all these things will have to be done transparently and with proper accountability.

This is the reason why the management of public finances is also at the core of the European integration process because this type of strategy affects many chapters in the accession process such as the chapter dealing with public administration, economic criteria, public procurement, etc. Various chapters deal with the fundamental issues of integration.

This in itself shows how important public fund management reforms are for good governance in the country but also in the functioning of democracy, this is reflected in the fact that the roadmap for public administration reform includes the IMF reform.
