The meeting of the SP parliamentary group has started.
Prime Minister Edi Rama has stated that an extreme effort is being made to create a gap between the government and the citizens with false accusations and diabolical fabrications.
Rama: I ask for your attention today and through this joint open meeting of the parliamentary group and the government cabinet. I also want the attention of those who have voted for us since 2013 when we took on the task of reviving Albania, ruined by the hands of some who scream day and night or shout uncontrollably at the pulpits and television windows.
An extreme effort is made to poison the public and to create a gap between us and the majority of Albanians who have trusted us and supported us wholeheartedly all these years. Today I will not dwell on half-truths, which are also the biggest lies, nor on false accusations and diabolical fabrications.
Today I will focus on the truths, 10 years after taking office. Be it sweet or bitter truths, which are not good for us, but we have to face them. When the Albanians voted for us en masse for the first mandate, Albania was in its darkest days since 1997. Crime had gained calm in its activities in a game of syllabi with order. Citizens gave bribes even to get a birth certificate .
Order was on the ground. Crime had acquired the tranquility of its activity in a continuous game with the state. Thefts were everywhere. The first demand of the citizens was safety, safety, safety. Corruption ran through the streets in every contact of the citizen with the state. "Citizens used to pay bribes by withdrawing money for a certificate," said Rama.
