Lawyer Ylli Manjani, commenting on the Constitutional Court's decision to suspend the November 9 elections in Tirana, says that with this decision, Erion Veliaj is still the mayor of the capital.
Manjani says this decision automatically suspends the administrative preparation of the elections.
"Yes, Erion Veliaj is still the president, until the Constitutional Court decides whether to accept his dismissal. What the Constitutional Court will decide is another topic, I don't want to enter the world of speculation, without a doubt we all have an opinion."
The consequence is this: with the suspension of the elections in Tirana, Law 115 of the Constitution has automatically taken effect. The Government and the President are suspended by their decision.
"The trial process has been freed from the pressure of elections. This suspension freezes everything in the administrative preparation of the elections. If it is said to be fair, then the President issues a new decree for elections on a different date from October 31," Manjani told Euronews Albania.
