The US chargé d'affaires in Albania, David Wisner, has given his messages for the Day of Justice.
In his speech before the prosecutors and judges, he said that the justice reform is irreversible.
According to him, even though there is pressure from politics, more is needed for a stronger democracy.
The American diplomat called on all prosecutors and judges to work as hard as possible to make the system work.
"The rule of law should be at the center of our commitments. Justice reform is not easy or perfect, but all Albanian citizens will be proud of the work done.
You and other independent institutions are bringing semblance to the justice system by taking action by taking action against organized crime.
Albanians can be confident that they will be treated appropriately. The challenges you face are great, there are obstacles, there will be more vetting, greater standards in institutions, given that there is political pressure and public expectations are great.
Your work is more important, your meeting is an extraordinary example that institutions cannot work alone. The US is proud to work with prosecutors and judges to help Albania for a better future
Reform in justice is irreversible. We expect that the institutions created in 2016 will be long-term and there is no question about that. The Albanian people demand this.
More needs to be done by politicians from the institutions and everyone interested in a stronger democracy. I can promise you that the US will support this reform effort in accordance with the constitution and the independence of the judiciary. We encourage more cooperation with civil society to implement the appropriate reforms for Albania's path towards EU integration, fighting corruption," said the American diplomat.
