Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted for the first time after the publication of invoices in the media, where businessman Klodian Zoto paid for trips and luxury hotels to former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj when he was Minister of Finance, implicating him directly in the issue of incinerators.
In a statement to the journalists, Rama initially refused to make any comments and after the insistence of the journalists attacked the media.
Among other things, Rama said that "if we set out for a battle and have a certain goal and on the way someone or several people pluck pears and apples to put in the basket behind my back, their work is not with me but with justice."
The head of the government stated that at the moment he does not make comments on the data that are to be investigated and judged, and after they are judged he will speak again.
Conversation with journalists:
The data on Arben Ahmetaj's travels have been published in the media, do you have a comment that the former number 2 has benefited from a person accused of the incinerators?
Rama : Other things have been published in the media, even about the politicians you are close to, and it doesn't seem to me that you ever asked me. We do not comment. We make no other comments.
Do you condemn a minister paying his hotel bills?
Rama : Yes, this is the habit that you have to raise your voice. Many things come out in the media, my respect for the media is well known. It is crowded with people who are ready for anything. We are not in the habit of speaking out even for people who are in the SP who are against it. I take everything that is said with great reserve.
Have you talked to Mr. Ahmetaj to know his truth?
Rama : They are individual truths, there are three works in Fier, Elbasan and Tirana for which I would say 100 times that they should be done. They are at the service of communities. They are property. That of Fier is destined to be the property of the community. If we set out for a battle and have a certain goal and on the way someone or several pluck pears and apples to put in the basket behind my back, they have no business with me but with justice. I do not comment on pieces of data that are to be investigated and judged. When they are investigated and judged, I will speak again, I cannot tell that there is a conversation.
