Prime Minister Edi Rama is on the guest list at the strange party with fantasy motifs organized by the Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni.
The "Atreju" party, inspired by the 1984 film "The NeverEnding Story", has at its core the promotion of Italy's conservative youth.
The Italian media write that the inspiration for organizing this event came to Meloni in the 90s, while participating in a camping festival called "Hobbit Camp" organized by the Italian post-fascist movement "Movimento Sociale Italiano".
But this time, the party that runs from December 14 to 17, finds Meloni not as an aspirant, but at the head of politics in Italy.
It is not for nothing that the Spanish populist Santiago Abascal, head of the far-right party "Vox", has confirmed his participation in this celebration.
Also, the American multibillionaire Elon Musk, who has often attracted attention with his sharp positions on politics in Europe and the USA, will also participate. Musk is known as a supporter of American conservatives, where already at the head of "X", the former Twitter social network, he has given new spaces to the voices of the right wing, often even promoting them personally.
According to Piero Garofalo, professor of Italian Studies at the University of New Hampshire in the United Kingdom, Atreju is "less a political convention than a party political event." The festival, which this year will have a Christmas village and an ice rink, features youth-oriented concerts, exhibitions, debates and humor and has a focus on socialism rather than just talking about politics.
A year ago, the "Atreju" festival brought together famous personalities such as Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and US President Donald Trump's advisor, Steve Bannon.
"The festival now serves as a platform to showcase Giorgia Meloni's international status and the integration of the Italian right into the international community," added Garofalo.
The Prime Minister of Great Britain Rishi Sunak, who shares quite a few of the same positions as Meloni, will be present, not necessarily inside the festival, and will meet with the Italian Prime Minister.
The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has refused the invitation to participate in this festival.
