The "McGonigal"/Agron Neza file is interrogated for 6 hours at SPAK:
Agron Neza after leaving SPAK

Agron Neza was questioned this Monday for about 6 hours by the Special Prosecutor's Office. He appeared without a lawyer at the premises of SPAK at noon, to leave around 18:00. Neza did not speak to the media, briefly telling the journalists that for the reason of his call, they should inquire at the Prosecutor's Office. "Ask the Prosecutor's Office", Neza told reporters.

PORTFOLIO

Agron Neza, referred to as "person A" in the "McGonigal" investigative file, is known to have given explanations for the SPAK investigation on the report made a year ago by Gazment Bardhi, where he accuses Rama of having paid the former FBI agent with the intention the suspension of the payment of Russian money for lobbying by DP.

According to the American investigation file, Neza gave an amount of 225 thousand euros to the former FBI agent McGonigal, an amount that was not declared by the latter.

On the same issue in November, former official Dorian Ducka gave explanations for several hours at SPAK.

McGonigal's conviction

Former senior FBI agent Charles McGonigal was sentenced to 4 years and 2 months in prison by a court in New York on December 14 last year.

He pleaded guilty to his collusion with US-sanctioned Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska, accused of helping Russia annex Crimea.

Federal prosecutors had asked for at least 5 years in prison, while defense lawyers insisted that he not be sentenced to life imprisonment after pleading guilty. However, the court said that the crime committed against him was quite serious.

McGonigal himself said he regretted his actions.

There is also another case against him in Washington for concealing the fact that he had received 225 thousand dollars from the Albanian-American, Agron Nezaj, who later became an FBI informant.

Even in this case, he has admitted his guilt and the court is expected to deliver the decision on February 16.
