On Sunday evening there was a working dinner between the leaders of the Western Balkans and high representatives of the US administration and the EU.
Prime Minister Edi Rama in a press conference affirmed that for the first time he was at a dinner with both of them, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti and the President of Serbia, Aleksandër Vucic.
Rama also told what happened in this meeting, where he emphasized that there was a positive communication between everyone.
"Do not enter into treating these relationships as personal relationships. There is no personal here. In fact, it is the first time that I am at a dinner with both of them, Albin and President Vucic, and it doesn't appear to me that anything happened other than that there was a positive communication between everyone. As it turns out to me, this format and these demands that the EU has today from all of us to give us the opportunity to get much more back in economic and financial terms speak for themselves about what I have been talking about these years we need to integrate within the region to be ready when we take a step further into the EU.
And today if we had done the things we could have done within the framework of the Berlin Process and using the mechanisms of the Open Balkans as a working mechanism to implement the directives of the Berlin Process, today we would be ready, but not we are ready because we wasted time and wasted energy dealing with terminology, no, this process is different, that other one is different, etc. etc., things that are the result of the lack of a common strategic vision of all members of the community of 6 countries and the lack of desire to share internal issues with this big issue that is both internal and common because the EU has made it very clear that whoever will be the cause will be penalized.
It will penalize itself because it will not be able to benefit. In this respect, I believe that what has happened these 24 hours is very positive, be it last night's dinner or today. So this should say something to all those who instead of dealing with content when they make comments, when they make criticisms, when they make public judgments to understand that nothing bad happens from meeting and talking and at the end of the day peace and cooperation is in everyone's interest, while conflict and division is only in the interest of politicians for a short time, not for a very long time", said Rama.
