Full reaction:

Dear citizens of Vlora,

With gratitude and humility, for everything we shared together along this journey, along with endless thanks for all your support, I am sharing my resignation letter with you!

I hope for your understanding, with the conviction that Vlora has full potential for valuable contributions!

As a son of this beloved city, I will serve in every way, just as I have done every day of my diplomatic career because the only thing that remains unchanged is that Vlora will always be first in my heart!

Dear Mr. Prime Minister,

Today, with the highest moral and institutional responsibility, I have decided to submit my resignation from my position as Mayor of Vlora.

This is one of those moments where words do not come easily, not because I lack conviction, but because the weight of what I want to say is great and very sensitive for me as a person, as a public servant, and as a son of this community that I love with all my heart.

Despite the challenges and difficulties that have arisen along the way, I have always believed that transparency and honest work are the foundations upon which genuine service to the community is built.

I have lived every day of this obligation with full dedication and diligence. I have done the best I knew how, perhaps not always enough, but always with honesty. I have been close to people in good days and in difficult days, and I have felt their troubles and hopes as if they were my own family.

However, I believe that at a certain point it is important to know how to leave with dignity, to make way for new energies and ideas.

My resignation comes as an act of reflection and responsibility. The current circumstances, family and personal, as well as political and administrative, lead me to believe that my resignation is the right action at this moment. This decision does not imply a departure from public responsibility, but is a conscious act to create space for new ideas and rhythms of development for our municipality.

Mr. Prime Minister,

Thank you for your institutional cooperation! This decision does not change either the respect or the responsibility I feel towards my country and our citizens.

I thank you for every support you have given me and for every hope we have shared together. I remain committed to my community and will continue to contribute in other ways for the common good.

With deep respect,

Ermal Dredha
