The Chairman of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, reacted after today's meeting of the Tirana Municipal Council, where Erion Veliaj was voted to be dismissed.
Through a post on social media, Bardhi states that "Veliaj left the mayor's post as a symbol of corruption, abuse and lawlessness at the head of the capital's affairs."
Bardhi added that the same end awaits "all the corrupt ministers, MPs and mayors of Prime Minister Edi Rama's government."
Bardhi's reaction:
Erion Veliaj – Edi Rama's successor as mayor of Tirana – was dismissed today by the unanimous vote of the Tirana Municipal Council. He left the leadership of the largest municipality in the country without having the opportunity to say a single word, shake hands with anyone, or even say goodbye. He left as a symbol of corruption, abuse, and lawlessness at the helm of the capital's affairs.
Today's was not a message simply and solely for Erion Veliaj. Today's dismissal was a warning of the end that awaits all those socialist officials who, in the service of Edi Rama, have stolen votes, abused power, abused their office, and embezzled public funds.
The same end that awaits behind the door of Edi Rama's corrupt ministers, deputies and mayors, starting with Belinda Balluku. The hour of truth and justice may be delayed. But, what is certain is that it always comes. And when it comes, it falls mercilessly on all those who wasted the rare privilege of serving citizens for ambition, power and personal enrichment. When that hour comes, the "guardian angel" of the corrupt will be content with a sigh of external regret and an internal frown that this time was not the next one.
