Today there is a vote on his dismissal, the Municipal Council letter to Veliaj:

The Secretary of the Municipal Council has sent a letter to the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj.

The letter states that the City Council 'has no decision to prohibit [his] presence at the meeting'.

At 4:00 PM, a meeting will be held at the Municipal Council where a vote will be taken on the dismissal of Veliaj from his position as mayor of Tirana.

"Dear Chairman,

Following your letter no. 32059/3 prot., dated 22.09.2025, we bring to your attention that there is no decision by the Municipal Council to prohibit your presence at this meeting and that your request to be recognized, heard, defended and provided with explanations will be submitted to the Tirana Municipal Council Meeting, which will take place on Tuesday, 23.09.2025, at 16:00.

"As above, we reiterate that following your request to be physically present at the Municipal Council meeting, in case of inability to be present, please submit your observations in writing to the Council so that they can be administered and made known at this meeting," the letter reads.
