Deputy Olta Xhaçka has defended the investment of her husband, Artan Gaçi, in Dhërmiu beach, stating that it is no longer forbidden for politicians' family members to do business.
In an interview with Grida Duma on Top Channel, Xhaçka said that her husband's private business did not have any favoritism from the government, and that it received the status of strategic investment as it deserved, just as other businesses in the coveted area had done from the big bosses of different fields.
Xhaçka also said that her husband "had a dream" of this investment, and even took a loan to realize it.
"It is not forbidden for family members of politicians to do business. We are not in communism. It is an investment that takes place in a strategic area. On private property, with permission obtained...before applying for status. This investment did not need any procedural facilitation. Because other important investments in that area had a strategic status, this investment had the right to do the same.
This project has been his dream, we have definitely talked. He wanted to do something that was very beneficial for the economy there. He could build housing units and make a very quick profit, but his savings, his dreams, bank loans...no doubt we got loans. I don't know how much it is", said Xhaçka in "Top Story".
