The latest enigma of archaeologists is related to Australia. According to foreign media, they believe that this continent-state contains a "massive underground secret".

The well-known geologist Andrew Glikson says after his research that an asteroid crater called "Deniliquin" can be hidden under the continent. In his study published in the magazine "Tectonophysics", it is said that this structure has a diameter of 514 kilometers. With such dimensions, such a crater would be the largest ever discovered on our planet.

Previously, the "Vredefort" crater in South Africa or "Chicxulub" (which is believed to be from the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs) were discovered.

The fall of asteroids to Earth is a very mysterious field to study, says Gilkson.

The existence of the structure under Australia was first mentioned in the late 1990s by Tony Yeates, who through an analysis confirmed that there was a large structure under a region in New South Wales, although without conclusive evidence.

After all this, you may wonder how such a structure is created under our feet?! Gilkson says: When an asteroid hits, it creates a crater. The upper part of this crater over the years can erode, becoming one with the ground.

For "Deniliquin" there is still not enough evidence, that's why archaeologists ask that surface drilling be carried out to provide them. Tentatively, they believe the asteroid that left this giant remnant hit the planet about 445 million years ago, coinciding with what is known as the mass extinction event of 85% of all life on Earth.
