The three nurses suspected of violence against the elderly at the Asylum in Pejë, Aurona Pelaj, Altina Rexhepi and Remzie Kuqi, appeared before the court today.

In a video published by the Kosovar media, the three suspects are seen entering the courtroom. However, the court session has been postponed at the request of the lawyers of the three arrested nurses, while the reason is not known.

Aurona Pelaj is accused of the rape of the elderly woman, while Altina Rexhepi and Remzie Kuqi are charged with the offenses of "Giving assistance" in the commission of violence as well as "Unauthorized photography or recording".

The footage of Aurona Pelaj slapping and kicking the elderly woman in the nursing home shocked public opinion in Kosovo and Albania, and there were many reactions.

While Pelaj shot the elderly woman, her colleagues recorded the scene and were amused. After the images were published, the elderly woman was immediately taken out of the center by her family members. 

On the other hand, the Kosovo Chamber of Nurses has decided to revoke the license of the nurses who were involved in the beating of the elderly woman in the Nursing Home in Peja.
