US President Donald Trump stated that US Air Force B-2 bombers were used in attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities.

The B-2 Spirit is the US Air Force's most modern bomber.

The B-2 is equipped with four engines, can be armed with nuclear or conventional weapons, is piloted by a crew of two, has a payload capacity of 18,000 kilograms, and an unlimited range through aerial refueling.

This bomber first flew in 1989 and was first used in combat ten years later during Operation Allied Force, NATO's intervention in the humanitarian crisis in Kosovo, flying non-stop from its base in Missouri to strike Serbian targets, according to the Air Force.

Later, he also flew longer missions to strike targets in Afghanistan in October 2001, during the early phase of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Most recently, the B-2 has been used from the joint US-British base at Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean to strike Houthi targets in Yemen.

The US Air Force has only 20 B-2 aircraft in its inventory, all of which are stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri.

Each of these bombers costs about $2 billion according to current estimates.

Bunker Buster Bomb: The US used the GBU-57A/B Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) bomb, known as a "bunker buster", during Saturday night's (US Eastern Time) attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities, according to two sources familiar with the operation.

The MOP - a 13,600-kilogram bomb containing 2,700 kilograms of explosives - is "designed to reach and destroy our adversaries' weapons of mass destruction located in well-protected facilities," according to a U.S. Air Force briefing.

The B-2 is the only aircraft in the US inventory that can carry the GBU-57A/B bomb.
