International paedophile network collapses, and the action cost the lives of two
A paedophile ring has been broken up by authorities in Australia with over 12 people charged with a string of sex crimes.

Officials said Tuesday that 19 people had been arrested on 138 charges as part of an international paedophile ring.

"We suspect these men were members of a technologically sophisticated online child abuse network operating across the country," Australian Federal Police commander Helen Schneider told the media.

Two of the suspects have already been convicted, according to authorities.

The convicts will serve approximately 15 years in prison in the Australian Capital Territory and five years in New South Wales.

13 children were rescued from the operation, but the circumstances have not been made public.

The Australian investigation began after a fatal collision between FBI agents and an American suspect linked to the criminal group.

FBI special agents Daniel Alfin and Laura Schwarzenberger were killed in 2021 while trying to execute a search warrant for child pornography in Florida.

Suspect David Lee Huber shotguns from behind the door and killed the two agents, as well as injuring three others. He then turned the gun and killed himself.
