The British tabloid Daily Mail has published a video from the shelter where the asylum seekers will stay, including Albanians.
The 3-story building, surrounded by the sea, is the size of a football field and has 222 en-suite bedrooms, a gym and a 24-hour canteen. Asylum seekers will take part in activities including cricket, cycling, walks in the Dorset countryside.
They will also take part in organized 'cultural events' and have the opportunity to travel on free buses and taxis to enjoy the local towns. Hourly buses from 7am to 11pm will transport the men to Weymouth, a nearby seaside resort with a beach, fishing fleet and marina.
If they miss the 23:00 bus to the building, free taxis are available by calling a special number. As well as free food, accommodation and transport, each asylum seeker is given £9.58 a week out of pocket.
Asylum seekers include people who are disabled, who have survived torture and modern slavery and who have had traumatic experiences
"To house any human being in a 'quasi-floating prison' like Bibby Stockholm is inhumane."
“To try and do that to this group of people is extremely cruel. Even just receiving notifications is causing them great anxiety", said some of the asylum seekers.
