Eurofighters intercept two Russian Su-27s

Tensions between NATO and Russian forces in the airspace over Lithuania.

Italian media say two Eurofighter fighter jets from the Italian air force intercepted two Russian Sukhoi Su-27 jets.

The incident occurred on August 3, when Russian jets attempted to enter Lithuanian airspace without permission.

Italian F-2000 Typhoon jets were immediately taken to flight, intercepting and chasing them out of the air banned zone.

The Baltics' airspace has been under NATO protection since 2004, which has been strengthened even more since Russia's invasion of Ukraine a year earlier.
