NATO is expected to start a series of military exercises during which the use of Europe's nuclear bombs will be practiced. The drills are expected to start on Monday and the news comes as Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that any involvement of the Alliance in the war would cause a "global catastrophe".

In the annual exercise named "Steadfast Noon", 60 aircraft will be used while the exercises will take place in Belgium, the North Sea and Great Britain. However, the Alliance has explained that no active nuclear bombs will be used during the exercises, while also adding that the exercises are not related to any of the recent events.

In the announcement made on the official website of NATO, it is clarified that the exercises will last until October 30, and are routine, that is, with training activities. Spokeswoman Oana Lungescu said the exercise will help NATO's nuclear deterrents remain safe and effective.

The country that organizes the military exercises is Belgium and 14 countries and 60 aircraft will participate in them, including the most advanced military aircraft on the market such as the US B-52.

On the other hand, satellite images show that Putin has increased the number of nuclear bombers at the military base near the Finnish and Norwegian borders.
