Violent protests in Serbia, Vučić urgently convenes the National Security

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, has called an emergency meeting of the National Security Council. After the meeting, he announced that two policemen were seriously injured, while one was barely able to stop bleeding as a result of the blows.

He emphasized that attempts have been made to take the institutions of Serbia by force, Serbian media write.

"So far, over 35 bandits have been arrested. The action continues and will not stop. The identity of some people is being determined at this moment and all will be arrested during the night".

As he added, in a minute and a half everyone ran away when the gendarmerie appeared, stressing that they caused great damage to the state of Serbia. His call for the urgent meeting came after supporters of the coalition "Serbia against violence" (SPN) continued their protest in front of the Belgrade Assembly tonight, where they once again tried to forcefully enter the building.

The police in the city's Assembly building reacted and used spray against the protesters. The seventh protest of the Serbian coalition against violence was held in front of the building of the Republican Election Commission (CEC).

But the protest at one point was moved in front of the Belgrade City Assembly, Serbian media write. Representatives of the opposition tried to enter the assembly, but the police inside did not allow them.

According to Serbian media reports, the protest was characterized by numerous incidents, citizens broke windows and entrance doors, and surveillance cameras were destroyed. Citizens threw stones at the building of the Assembly of the city of Belgrade, while the police also used a large amount of tear gas. In the end, it is said that the police and gendarmerie managed to disperse the protesters.
