The four hostages in the night club in the Netherlands have been released, while the perpetrator has been handed over and handcuffed by the police.

The latter, armed with explosives, had taken several people hostage.

He came out of the night club and knelt before the officers who put him in handcuffs and then escorted him blindfolded to the police car.

The perpetrator allegedly entered the club with weapons and explosives in the early hours of the morning during closing time and threatened to blow up the place.

The owner of the club told De Telegraaf that his employees were being held hostage. According to him, there was no conflict with third parties.

Heavily armed police cordoned off part of the city and asked people to "stay away" from the area, adding: "Stay inside."

The person who took the people hostage was armed with explosives.

There is no indication that the hostage situation has a terrorist motive, police said in a statement to X.
