White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt, in a media release, announced the blocking of $8 million in funding for Politico media.
In her statement, she said that media outlets like Politico will no longer be funded by USAID. According to her, more than $8 million from American taxpayers has gone to Politico.
She confirmed that the DOGE team led by Elon Musk is working on canceling payments.
“USAID funding for media outlets, including Politico, which I know has a seat in this room and can confirm, will no longer be provided by the more than $8 million in taxpayer dollars that went to subsidize subscriptions to Politico. The DOGE team is working to cancel these payments now,” Leavitt said.
Politico is known as a left-wing media outlet close to Democrats in the US. The Trump administration has targeted all entities funded through USAID, blocking funding that they say serves a leftist agenda around the world.
