UN warns of Gaza conflict: 14,000 babies could die in next 48 hours

The UN warns that if aid is not delivered within the next 48 hours, the lives of 14,000 babies in Gaza are at risk.

The alarming situation comes after Israel has not allowed basic food supplies to enter the Gaza Strip for more than 11 weeks now, as pressure on Hamas.

There was no shortage of ground operations over the weekend, while air strikes continue.

Amidst all this chaos, the hunger crisis in Gaza has reached its limits.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared that “there is no retreat from massive fighting until we take full control of the Gaza Strip.” “We offered our assistance during the war, but we realized that Hamas was plundering this aid, so we cut it off,” he added.

Concern has grown, as the United Kingdom, France and Canada called on Israel to halt the offensive and increase the flow of aid.

Meanwhile, the UK has suspended trade talks with Israel and summoned the Israeli ambassador to account over the 'cruel' aid blockade on Gaza.

According to the BBC, addressing MPs, David Lammy said that the United Kingdom is suspending negotiations with the Israeli government on a new free trade agreement and is summoning the Israeli ambassador to the United Kingdom, Tzipi Hotovely, to the Foreign Office.

He says that Minister Hamish Falconer will tell Hotovely that "the 11-week blockade of aid to Gaza has been cruel and unreasonable."

"The world is judging. History will judge them," he stressed.

"Blocking aid, expanding borders, ignoring the concerns of your friends and partners. This is unreasonable and must stop," he further said.

"We will take further action. I say now to the people of Israel that we want a strong friendship with you, based on shared values ??and thriving ties between our peoples and societies."

"We are steadfast in our commitment to your security and future, to confronting the very real threat from Iran, the scourge of terrorism, and the evils of anti-Semitism. But the ongoing war in Gaza is damaging our relationship with your government," he continued.

"And as the Prime Minister has said, if Israel continues this military offensive, as it has threatened, without ensuring the unhindered delivery of aid, we will take further action in response," Lammy concluded.
