Trump reveals conversation with Putin: Ceasefire negotiations will begin immediately! We will do big trade with Russia after the war

US President Donald Trump says his phone call with Vladimir Putin went "very well" and that Russia and Ukraine will immediately begin ceasefire negotiations.

In a post on Truth Social moments ago, Trump added that the Vatican had expressed interest in hosting the negotiations.

He then went on to say that Russia "wants to do large-scale trade" with the US once the war is over, and that Ukraine could also benefit greatly from trade.

Trump also said he had briefed Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian president, as well as the leaders of the EU, France, Italy, Germany and Finland, immediately after the call with Putin.

I just finished my two-hour phone call with President Vladimir Putin of Russia. I believe it went very well. Russia and Ukraine will immediately begin negotiations toward a ceasefire and, most importantly, an END to the war. The terms for this will be negotiated between the two sides, as can only be done because they know the details of a negotiation that no one else would know. The tone and spirit of the conversation were excellent. If it weren’t for that, I would say so now, rather than later. Russia wants to do TRADE on a large scale with the United States when this catastrophic “bloodshed” is over, and I agree.

There is an extraordinary opportunity for Russia to create vast amounts of jobs and wealth. Its potential is UNLIMITED. Likewise, Ukraine could be a major beneficiary in trade, in the process of rebuilding its country. Negotiations between Russia and Ukraine will begin immediately. I have informed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, President Emmanuel Macron of France, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni of Italy, Chancellor Friedrich Merz of Germany, and President Alexander Stubb of Finland, during a phone call with me, immediately following my call with President Putin. The Vatican, represented by the Pope, has stated that it would be very interested in hosting the negotiations. Let the process begin!
