President Vjosa Osmani is holding a press conference regarding the failure of the Kosovo Assembly to elect a president.

She announces the dissolution of Parliament, causing the country to go to early parliamentary elections.

The Kosovo Parliament, in an extraordinary session late on Thursday (05.03.), failed to elect the country's president, due to a lack of a quorum of deputies, causing the Speaker of the Assembly to interrupt the session at its beginning. Only 66 deputies of the parliamentary majority participated in the session, which was completely boycotted by the opposition political parties.

"In this case, there is no quorum to continue with the vote. Several times in this session I appealed to the MPs who are absent to come and be present in accordance with the Constitution and the judgments of the Constitutional Court. The situation is that they are not present. Consequently, we do not have 2/3 of the MPs," said the Speaker of the Assembly Albulena Haxhiu. Two candidates were proposed for president, Glauk Konjufca from Vetëvendosje and Fatmire Kollçaku, also from the Vetëvendosje Movement.
