A dam burst in the Russian city of Kurgan sent huge amounts of water flooding thousands of homes and businesses.

The situation continues to be serious for several days now, while not only the city, but also dozens of surrounding villages are floating in water.

So, the tragicomic images of how a group of religious leaders tried to "bless" the dam so that it would not burst about a week ago have spread on social networks.

Priests went over the dam before it broke, and flew over it in helicopters, begging God to "hold his hand."
