Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has apologized for the tragedy that happened in Larisa where two people lost their lives as a result of the collision of two trains.

He said that the event is the responsibility of all those who govern while adding that a special commission of inquiry will be set up to investigate the serious event.

 "Indeed, in the Greece of 2023, it is not possible for two trains to run in opposite directions on the same line and no one has noticed. But we can't, we don't want to and we shouldn't hide behind human error". 

He also said that the fact that the digital control system will be fully operational in the coming months is no excuse, expressing regret that it was not resolved before the tragedy occurred.
