Robots are thought to be the future of humanity. Robotic technology is widely applied in industry. But when it comes to their intelligence there is still a lot to be done.
But Romania's Prime Minister has introduced his newest adviser, a robot assistant called Ion. According to Nicolae Ciuca, this is the first time in the world that artificial intelligence receives such a post, albeit an honorary one.
The robot was built in Romania and its main task will be to scan social networks to inform the government "in real time" about "the proposals and wishes of Romanians".
"Hello, you gave me life and my role is to represent you, like a mirror," says Ion in a calm voice. "What should I know about Romania?".
The stranger who remembers nothing / Mystery: Who is the man who wanders the streets and that nobody knows him According to the documents that were published on the day of the presentation, the robot will use artificial intelligence to capture the thoughts of the society, using public data , in social networks. But people will also have the opportunity to communicate directly with Ion, through a website set up for this purpose.
"I am convinced that the use of artificial intelligence should not be an option, but an obligation, to make decisions based on better information," said Ciuca.
Romania is one of the poorest countries in the European Union, but in recent years it has undertaken initiatives for the development of new companies, especially in the field of information technology.
