The US Department of the Treasury sanctioned the state prosecutor in Bosnia and Herzegovina. According to a release from Brian Nelson, undersecretary for counterterrorism and financial intelligence, Diana Kajmakovic is repeatedly undermining democracy and the rule of law in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"Today's measures are a continuation of the implementation of the US strategy to hold accountable individuals who carry out destabilizing activities in the Western Balkans," the announcement states.
American official Nelson added that these measures confirm the commitment of the US to stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as sanctions have been imposed on a person of key importance in allowing corruption in this country.
Among other things, the Treasury Department confirms that Bosnia is currently facing its most serious political crisis since 1995 due to ethnic tensions.
