Hundreds of officers in France are searching for a drug lord who escaped from a police van in a case that has shocked the country.
Mohamed Amra , known by the nickname "Miza", was being transferred to a prison when two cars crashed into the van he was in.
This is also the moment when these two vehicles ambush the police van and then a group of armed people start shooting.
One of these vehicles was found burnt immediately after the event. Foreign media point out that the armed persons escaped, while one of them was injured.
The spectacular escape of the drug trafficker seriously injured three police officers and took the lives of 2 others.
But who is the 30-year-old who is the head of a drug-trafficking network with ties to mafia groups in Marseille?
Mohamed Amra was held in separate prisons in Marseille, Paris and Rouen during legal proceedings against him for theft, charges for which he was found guilty and given an 18-month prison sentence.
He had 13 previous offences, which were mostly minor, including driving without a license and refusing to obey a police order.
The 30-year-old had tried to escape on the weekend by sawing the bars of his cell, while his mother who had visited him earlier said that her son had not told her anything about the escape plan.
