Prime Minister Albin Kurti has told the Austrian newspaper, Der Standard, details of the Franco-German proposal devised by the EU, for reaching a comprehensive agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, as well as part of the conversation with the Serbian president, about the Association of Municipalities with a Serbian Majority.
"Some of the paragraphs of the German-German agreement of 1972 are included in the proposal. But Willy Brandt went to Warsaw in advance and asked for forgiveness. And the deal was possible because the two Germanys got a seat at the UN nine months later. But with Russia and China, we have no such chance. Add here the fact that the five EU countries that do not recognize Kosovo should also be there", Kurti said, adding that there are no concrete steps for recognition by these countries, except Greece.
Kurti also spoke at length about the association of municipalities with a Serbian majority.
"I told Vucic that I got the impression that he does not want the association of municipalities, because you cannot want an association of municipalities and say every week: 'I will not recognize the state of Kosovo,'" said Kurti.
Now, following the plan of France and Germany, the prime minister of Kosovo said that we have entered a new phase.
He stated that he is cooperating closely with the internationals, but said that he does not feel that he is being treated the same.
"The West is somewhat afraid of the destabilizing potential of Serbia, and on the other hand, there is naivety to think that Serbia may be forced to return to the West again soon," concluded Kurti.
