Three people have been sentenced to 27 years in prison in total, after kidnapping and torturing an innocent person, since they had an Albanian as their target.

The event took place on June 13, 2021, where according to British media , the three people identified as Faisal Fareed, Faizaan Fareed and Nicholas Shaw, armed, attacked a man in his 40s when he was returning home from work.

The latter was mistaken for an Albanian drug trafficker and the perpetrators forced him into the car before taking him to Dove Lane.

Despite realizing he was the wrong man, they continued to threaten him by stabbing him in the chest and legs.

The thugs drove off towards Blackburn after seeing a police car before leaving the man in his car, not caring if he was dead or not.

The man raised the alarm and was given first aid by the police officers before being sent to the hospital for treatment. He was treated for 14 stab wounds and a collapsed lung.

DC Rachel Norris, of Blackburn Police, said: “Despite him being in a serious condition, bleeding profusely, and knowing they had got the wrong man, the attackers continued to use their knives. He believed he was going to die."

Detectives launched an investigation and quickly linked Faisal Fareed, Faizaan Fareed and Nicholas Shaw to the crimes through forensic and telephone evidence.

The three perpetrators pleaded guilty to the following offences:

- Faisal Fareed, 23, of Lawrence Street, Blackburn, was jailed for 11 years for conspiracy to kidnap, affray, assault and conspiracy to supply drugs.

- Faizaan Fareed, 26, of Lawrence Street, Blackburn, was jailed for 10 years for conspiracy to kidnap, affray, assault and conspiracy to supply drugs.

- Nicholas Shaw, 45, of Medina Close, Accrington, was jailed for six years for conspiracy to kidnap.

"This was an absolutely horrific attack which left the man seriously injured," added DC Rachel Norris.

"The damage caused to him was long-lasting and he continues to be affected by what happened to this day.

"We welcome the sentences handed down in court."
