The Lebanese militant group Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for a drone and rocket attack in northern Israel that left 14 soldiers injured, six of them seriously.

According to the New York Times, this is one of the biggest attacks in recent months by Hezbollah, as Iran's most powerful regional proxy.

The attack comes after two of the militant group's commanders were killed by Israel, as fears of a wider conflict continue to grow.

According to information from the Israeli army, Hezbollah attacked with two anti-tank missiles in the Israeli border village, Arab al-Aramshe, before attacking with a drone.

Israelis have expressed concern about Hezbollah's apparent ability to determine the location of soldiers and their targeting, writes the New York Times.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military announced that it had killed Yussef Rafik Ahmed Shabat, the head of Hamas' Internal Investigations Department.

This was made known by the military spokesman, according to whom "Shabat served as a security officer in the military intelligence of Hamas in the Beit Hanun Battalion."

"His elimination - he added - significantly damages the investigation department of the terrorist organization."

The same source added that in a raid "a vehicle in which there were ten terrorists" was hit.
