Israel strikes Gaza aid distribution center, dozens killed
Hamas says Israel killed 24 people

Another fatal incident occurred near a distribution center in southern Gaza. The Israeli military says it opened fire near an aid distribution compound after identifying "several suspects" and is investigating reports of casualties.

The Hamas-run health ministry says Israeli troops killed 24 people waiting for aid near a distribution site in Rafah.

The Hamas-run civil defense agency says Israeli forces opened fire with tanks and drones on thousands of Palestinians waiting to gain access to the aid center.

Civil Defense Agency spokesman Mahmoud Bassal told me that most of the dead and wounded at the Rafah aid distribution center were hit by gunfire from tanks, helicopters, and quadcopter drones.

Israel denied shooting Palestinians in a similar incident on Sunday, which the Gaza health ministry said killed 31 people and wounded nearly 200 others.

The United Nations has called for the tragic cases to be investigated.

"I am appalled by reports of Palestinians killed and injured while seeking help in Gaza yesterday. I call for an immediate and independent investigation into these events and for the perpetrators to be held accountable," UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said earlier.
