Former Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte says that in Italy, migrant arrivals have increased by more than 40% compared to the same month a year ago.
He says that Giorgia Meloni's scheme for the transfer of migrants to Albania not only did not work and wasted 1 billion euros, but it would have been at a lower cost if the immigrants had been repatriated from Italy to their countries of origin.
"In May, the arrivals of immigrants increased by more than 40% compared to the same month of the previous year. In April, they had increased by 35%. The naval bloc with which Meloni has deceived Italians for years is no longer even talked about: she herself knew it was unreachable but good for getting votes. The centers in Albania are "dysfunctional": they did not even open the manual of European law before throwing 1 billion into the sea.
They improvised to rush to make announcements. And contrary to the slogans, we continue to land in Italy, carrying back and forth a handful of immigrants with very high costs, people that we could repatriate from Italy at much lower costs and without sending to Albania the police forces that are missing in our cities. Does anyone take responsibility for the Government? Or the fault of the nails, of Conte, of international conspiracies or of Fantaghiro?", writes Conte on social networks.
