Three officials from North Macedonia have reportedly been detained by the Police at the Qafë Thanë border crossing.
The news has been confirmed by TV21 media, which writes that it concerns the detention of the coordinator of the VLEN parliamentary group, MP Bekim Qoku, MP Adnan Azizi, and Hasim Murtezanin, Deputy Secretary General in the Government of North Macedonia.
The aforementioned officials claim that the incident occurred today at the Qafë Thanë border crossing, where they attempted to cross the border with diplomatic passports.
They also stated that they were kept waiting for about an hour, without receiving any explanations.
After an hour of stopping, a member of the border police informed them that three of them could continue their journey, while the fourth person who was accompanying them was not allowed to cross the border.
In a sign of revolt, they decided to return, and then, according to their statements, they were informed that they were banned from entering Albania.
TV21 reports that this comes after it is suspected that they would participate in the protest.
