US President Donald Trump has rejected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's call not to sell F-35 fighter jets to Turkey.

The issue has caused concern in Israel, due to the impact such an agreement could have on the military balance in the region and on Israel's technological advantage.

Netanyahu has accused Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of destabilizing the Middle East, while Ankara has emerged as one of the most vocal critics of Israel's military campaigns in Gaza and Lebanon.

Trump, who arrived in Turkey for a NATO summit on Tuesday, said he would consider selling fighter jets to the US ally.

"I have no concerns about anything. I mean, he's the leader of a country that has made it much better, much better, much more powerful," Trump said, according to The Hill.

Netanyahu previously urged Washington not to give Ankara access to its most advanced fighter jets.

"I don't think they should be given F-35 jets or the engines for their fighter jets, because that would upset the balance of power in the Middle East, which is ultimately guaranteed by Israeli air superiority and also," Netanyahu told Fox News on Monday.
